Yesterday, during the daily live stream the band does at their studio, Yellowcard's guitarist Ryan Mendez started to chat with the fans that were seeing the livestream. I was one of those fans, and luckily, Ryan answered to most of the questions I asked him about the upcoming record.
One of the doubts about this new record is that it has been something very recent, in fact, the band released their last album "When you're through thinking say yes" last year, so recording a new one just a year after seems like a rush for the band. I asked Ryan about all of this and he told me that it was not about just having another record out but because the band's been out touring a lot this year and they had many songs in their minds to be placed in a record, and that is why they decided to make this new one. Ryan described this record as "our best album by far", he's sure that it won't disappoint anyone.
Talking about the sound of the record, lead singer Ryan Key recently declared in an interview that he has written a lot about all the experiences lived last year when the band reunited, his feelings about starting again and recording new music and touring. "All the lyrics are Ryan's" told me Mendez when I asked him about the writing process, but, most of the guitar's are his.
Yesterday, the band announced that during the streaming there would be a surprise, and there was a big big surprise. Suddenly, while Ryan was chatting with us, a pretty young lady came in, her face was very familiar to me, and then, i realized who was the mysterious gig: Cassade Pope!!! "Hey Monday"'s singer was in the studio to join the band and help them with some vocals. Cassade, who also collaborated with the band in the acoustic version of their last record, is set to sing in this new record, but we don't know yet if it will be in the backup vocals or in the front next to Ryan Key.
It seems that this album is going to be very Yellowcard and really good, mixing their old days tunes and new stuff. I would like to thank Ryan Mendez for being so nice with the fans. We also had a little chat about Soccer, which was very funny (the band loves soccer and video game "Fifa")
Stay tuned for more news about the band. @nachorock
Green Day has recently uploaded one more video of the band at the studio for the upcoming album. As seen in previous post, last video posted by the band gave no clues about the record (as done in previous videos), but in this one, we can see east bay punk's leader Billie Joe Armstrong talking about how the album is totally a new sound that is f***ing with his head everyday. We also listen to this record producer, Rob Cavallo, talking about how the band is creating a powerful statement with their music. We really hope that the albums shows all that power.
In other news about the band, apart from the news about the trio playing both "Rock am See" and "Rock en Seine" festival, the punks recently announced a new festal show. It will be the 2nd September at the I-Day Festival in Bologna, Italy, a festival who last year guested bands like Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian or The Offspring. It seems that Green Day is really looking forward to play live and big festivals, which is great and maybe, more dates will be announced in the next weeks.
Talking about band's not so recent activity, an exclusive "behind the scenes" video of "21st Century Breakdown"has been uploaded, we can see how the very graphical video was done through the green screens and the special effects, here you have it:
Last night, the talented drummer from Blink 182 had a drum battle against one of the best drummers in the entire world, Animal from "The Muppets".
The battle had placed at the talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and saw the two performers showing off their musical skills.
The event took place due to the new star given at the "Hollywood Walk of Fame ", this star was for the inimitable Muppets, who recently released a new movie.
Travis joined Animal, Dr Teeth and the electric Mayhem to let people know that this Muppets can set up a rock show.
After the release of their record "The General Strike", which actually is an awesome record, the band's been up to some particular issues.
On one side, their vocalist, Justin Sane has published a solo single due to the 6 months he's been joining the "Occupy Wall Street" movement. The song, called "Don't call it Zuccotti, call it Liberty", is acoustic and talks about what's been happening around the situation of America and all the demonstrations that started at the Zuccotti park. Here you got it:
And then, Chris Head, bass player and also vocalist has recorded an acoustic version of "1915" from their later album "The General Strike", at the Westchester Music Conservatory(NY), here you have it:
We announced it to you some weeks ago, an incredible event was about to take place in Madrid. The Beefeater London Sessions, an event brought up by "Beefeater" and "Big Bad London" that reunited the best british voices of today. These voices were representing one of the most important cities in the world, the city that saw how music began to have a seat in culture, the city where bands like "The Clash", "Queen" or the great "Sex Pistols" began to be known, LONDON.
And who could represent London's nighttime and joy better than one of his most representative drinks, Beefeater.
First of all, talking about the event itself, the display of the organization was great and the staff was very nice.
Now let's go onto what is important:
The line-up of the night was very exciting: Baxter Dury, Emeli Sandé and The Kooks. The venue was perfect and it didn't look anymore as a "flamenco" venue, it looked like a tiny English venue from the Soho, incredible, it was beautiful. Believe me. When we got inside, we reached the best places to enjoy the show, first row and right in the middle, amazing.
The wait wasn't very long and the staff offered a cocktail, so it was kind of fun. But then, finally, the event started with the very nice and funny Baxter Dury, who thanked the opportunity given by Beefeater and started the show. I remember a declaration the brit made saying that the record label that first signed him did it because they told him that his music was so rare that they wanted to show it to the people. And actually you could define Dury's music as that, not very common, but very interesting and good, indie alternative. Songs like "Isabel", "Claire" from his last record "Happy Soup" were heard during the 25 minute performance of the brit, who was rewarded by audience at the end of it.
Then, one of the greatest voices I've heard in my life went onstage, she has beat Adele and has conquered the charts in England and I am pretty sure that she will go very high in music. Emeli Sandé impressed the whole audience with an amazing performance. Her voice takes you to London's pop soul from the 1970's, it is like Emeli wanted to show everybody that pop soul is still alive, even though that great voices like Amy Winehouse are gone. The tunes from her album "Our version of events" hypnotized the audience: songs like "Daddy", "Breaking the law" or "My kind of love" consolidated the pretty lady from England as the surprise of the night. She ended with her latest hit "Heaven" giving the night the London pop soul 21st century touch that characterized the event.
And finally, it was time for the kings of indie-rock (my opinion) to end the night. It was the second time I saw them and the best thing about this band is that even if you expect the best show of your life, they top it and go over it. The kick-off was their hit "Always Where I Need to Be". The guys from Brighton set the venue on fire, you could feel the energy emerging from Pritchard's body! There was it, The Kooks playing a private show at the Beefeater London Sessions.
After that, the show flew away in seconds, the band made a great setlist, including new tunes from their latest album "Junk of the heart" such as "Runaway", "Is it me" or the b-side "The Saboteur"; mixed from songs from their previous records "Inside in snide out" and "Konk". Songs like"Ooh la" showed Luke's(vocals) vocal skills and it is very easy to notice that these guys met at the "Brighton Music College" as all of them are very talented.
We also heard anthems like "If only" or "Sofa song" remembering their early days. And for ending the night, the indie rockers closed their set with their greatest hit (not my favorite, i think they have better songs though this one is great) "Naïve".
This was their setlist:
Always Where I Need To Be
Is It Me?
Sofa Song
Down To The Market
Runaway
If Only
Ooh La
Do You Wanna?
The Saboteur
Junk Of The Heart
Naïve
All in all, I really have to thank "Beefeater" and "Big Bad London" for making up such events that really matter about MUSIC, real music and I do hope they do it again next year.
Before ending I also would like to make a special mention to the crew from The Kooks for being so nice with me, and also Luke,Pete and Hugh for being so good people, we asked them for an interview and they did all they could to make it but due to organizers issues we couldn't . To sum up all this, thank you England for having great musicians.
enjoy! @Nachorock photos by: "notodo.com" & Carlos Barrutia''

Today, March 19 2012, "no pads, no helmets, just balls" the debut album by Simple Plan is celebrating its 10 years anniversary!
The album was released by Atlantic Records, and the producer was Arnold Lanni. But don't believe this is a bad album for being the first one they made, because it contains most of their more famous anthems like "I'd do anything (ft. Mark Hoppus of Blink 182)", "The worst day ever" or "Perfect".
As it was the first one, SP is not just celebrating an album anniversary, but the 10 years of band as well.
Look at what they just uploaded:
They are having a very active attitude with this thing, not just because they are in the middle of their european tour, but also because from their official site they're telling the fans to tweet theit favourites songs from the album with the hastag: #NoPads10 and to post video-messages to the band telling them your fondest memories about NPNHJB.
Hope these guys go on with their music because the are very special. Happy anniversary SP.
Thanks for reading :)

They were last year's revelation and it is so incredible how far they've gone in only 3. This band from L.A was formed just three years ago and it is integrated by Mark Foster (vocals and practically every instrument), Mark Pontius (drums and percussion) and Cubbie Fink (bass). It is quite difficult to label them in a particular music genre, I actually think they could fit in the indie-rock genre but being very alternative.
The band's story is not the typical 3 friends from high school forming a band and playing for so many years, these guys met in L.A while they were working at no so glamorous jobs such as music writers for advertisements, but then Mark Foster recruited them to form a band after realizing that he was no longer a solo artist.. None of them wanted to be apart from music, especially their leader, Mark Foster, who found music very helpful through his battle against drugs. I remember reading an interview where he said that his family encourage him to try with music, as he wasn't interested in going to college or having any kind of boring job. That's how "Foster and the People" began, they started to play in tiny small venues and people began to talk about them and comment their music, when the band realized that they were about to take off, they renamed the band deleting the "and" and so on being "Foster the People".
As I said, their first shows were crucial to be known, there was a particular song that attracted everybody and actually, that song, would take them to where they are right now. This song is called "Pumped up Kicks"(not my favorite at all) , which received significant airplay on the famous "KROQ". That is how the band got known in the main source of music of the world nowadays: the internet. From that moment on, everything got way easier, the band performed at famous "Coachella" and announced that their upcoming album "Torches" was about to be released, and so that happened, May was the month selected for their first studio album to see the light.
Pumped up Kicks:
I particularly think that this band makes the difference because of their very unique sound. Is not only guitars and drums and high bass lines as normally in indie rock. There are also lots of synthesizers, pianos, and electronic sounds that together sound incredible. And, of course, there is Mark Foster's voice which is amazing, very high and soft (first time i heard it i did not know if it was a guy or a girl) but not in the bad way, it is a very special voice and it sounds better live than in the album (which is very difficult).
Helena Beat:
In the album we find different tunes, it kicks off with "Helena Beat", very electro-rock and shaky, like "Pumped up kicks" or "Call it what you want" and also "Hustling". Then there are other songs, very relaxed, like "Waste".
Waste:
There is also the rock side of the album (don't expect pure rock, i mean indie rock) with songs like "Don't stop (color on the walls)" which is great, it's a song about the opinion of a 5 year old kid about the world; also "Houdini" my favorite. And so on there are also songs like "Miss You", "Warrant" and "I would do anything for you" which are very Foster.
this video makes no sense at all,
Call it what you want:
All in all, the album is pure music and Mark's songwriting is genuine and pure music, for those who haven't heard the band, i really recommend it, especially their acoustic sessions.
Hi everybody, today I decided to do a playlist about one of the best punk-rock band in the world nowadays, and not only for their talented musical skills, also because of the action they display during their shows. I'm talking about Zebrahead!!!. I have seen them live 3 times and I would see them over and over again for the rest of my life, each show is killer and the band member are very nice and want to meet their fans every time they can.
Well here you have the playlist, as always, it's hard to choose only 10 songs but if I had to, this would be the top 10:
