Well, after many
rock shows, it was time for Simple Plan to show us their skills! And might as
well they did!
Pierre and the
rest of this Canadian band started off their ''Get your heart on! Tour'' to present their
last album. The tour started in Portugal and continued to Madrid and Barcelona,
where tickets were sold out. And if you were with us attending to the shows, you’ll
understand why!
Simple Plan members are
no longer that sweet teenagers they used to be, now they are real rockers,
totally able to handle a real rock show.
In Madrid we
started queuing at 10 a.m and there were so many people by that time that we couldn’t
even see the gates from our sites! Some of the fans even slept there; but to be
honest we were very lucky, the weather was really good and the sun didn’t
leave us in the entire day.
As it’s a tradition,
the organization didn’t manage the crowd very well, but all in all, there were
no problems. Once we got in, we could listen to the supporting band: We the
kings! They were, and I mean it, awesomely and absolutely kickass live! They
rocked so hard, people freaked out and they made us get exhausted when SP hadn’t even
started! And that was not an easy task since the drummer, Danny, had a problem
in one of his wrists and needed a supporting drummer.
Not many people
knew this band, but it is amazing, seriously. I’ll do a review soon!
They played all
their hits (not sure about the order):
-She takes me
high
-Skyway avenue
-Secret valentine
-What you do to
me
-Say you like me
-We’ll be a
dream
-Check yes Juliet
This is a clip from "What you do to me" I recorded, but the quality is not very good so I invite you to listen to them on Youtube.
And for those
who didn’t know their songs, they sang
The middle (by Jimmy Eat World) who caused a little mosh pit.
In fact, I could talk with one of the members:
Charles, who told me that they would try to come back as soon as they can! He
even dedicated a hello to this blog!
And about Simple Plan, the setlist was:
- Shut up
- Can’t keep my hands of you
- Jump
- When I’m gone
- Addicted
- You suck at love
- Thank you
- Your love is a lie
- Astronaut
- Summer Paradise
- Medley covers: moves like Jagger (by Maroon 5) / Dynamite (by Taio Cruz) / I’m sexy and I know it (by LMFAO)
- Jet Lag
- The worst day ever
- This song saved my life
- Welcome to my life
- I’d do anything
- Loser of the year
- I’m just a kid
- Crazy (acoustic)
- Perfect
I recorded this clip from "Your love is a lie"
The show was incredible, Pierre’s voice sounded perfect. And one of the most surprising things is the fact that David, the bassist, really got into the show by talking and interacting with the crowd even more than Pierre!
He even dedicated a pair of winks to me when I was the only one around
who was jumping.
Pierre made big efforts to show us his skills talking Spanish, and he doesn’t
do it that bad, looks like he’s good at languages!
Jeff (guitarist) was also a good point, always throwing picks.
All the girls got highly excited, and to be honest, even the straight
boys succumbed to their charms a little bit. And mainly in the moment when David jumped from
the stage to the crowd just above me; he almost broke my neck, but helping a
musician with his show is always rewarding, isn’t it?
When the show was over, people were not tired, but exhausted! But we
still had a last breath to wait around for the guys to sign our tickets and to
dedicate them a last pair of shouts! And
they did demonstrate they were happy to be there by coming and taking photos
with us. They are nice, really.
And as usual I met awesome people who are at least as crazy as I am, or
even more.
When I got home, I could read this in twitter:

In Barcelona, the show was very similar, with the same setlist and hardly any of space to jump or do a mosh pit, but an incredible show of course!
